I’m a freelance food writer and Mommy blogger to Itty Bitty Foodies. It’s a resource that arms parents with a list of great tasting restaurants (for both kids & adults) around Dallas, simple home recipes and cool foodie ideas. One of my personal missions to get my kids to make good decisions on what they eat and also be adventurous with their palate.

We love Oak Cliff and so happy to have found Urban Acres. Thank you for being true!

We are moving to Dallas, possibly Richardson, in late August…I just signed up for the newsletter and can’t wait to join the Urban Acres family! Where can I find an approx price list for veggies, fruit, and fresh milk?

    • April 16, 2011 2:26 pm

Aimee, that’s great, we’re glad you’re moving to the area! I’ll email you about this.

Is it possible for you to get skim milk in store? I have not seen it the times I shop there.

    • November 29, 2011 4:18 pm

      Jenifer,

Hi there! We don’t have skim but we do have 2% milk from County Line Farms!

It is great to find your site and see what is happening in my old neighborhood. At one point I thought the neighborhood would not recover from neglect. Oak Cliff has a wonderful history and for me, many good memories. Makes me think about returning home!

Just joined Monday night. If I understand correctly, my pick-up won’t be until Friday 6/22. I would like to come into the store to shop for produce this Friday or Saturday. Any way to know in advance (for menu planning) what will be available this weekend?

    • June 14, 2012 1:19 pm

Dana, thanks so much for joining! You will receive a welcome email with your first pickup date confirmed. We’d love to see you in the store this weekend though! You can get your 5% off member discount on anything you buy. We don’t always know what produce we’ll have in the store, as it’s mainly what’s left after sorting the co-op style produce. But I’m about to post on our site what’s coming this weekend for the produce bins if you’d like to look at that to get an idea. Thanks!

I am looking forward to visiting the store with my kids this weekend, they love going to new markets. Do you accept Ebt? Also, may I get an approximate price list for fruits, veggies and organic meats?

    • August 17, 2012 7:02 am

      Hi Rebecca!

Thanks so much – we hope to see you this weekend! We accept cash, check, credit and debit cards. I’m not sure if you can use Ebt as debit. Our co-op style produce is $30 for a half share every two weeks and $50 for a full share every two weeks – more info is on this page:

      Co-op Style Produce

We also sell extra produce in our store that you can purchase even if you’re not enrolled in the co-op style produce, and the prices greatly vary depending on the items. We will email you a price list for our meats.

      Thank you!

I was wondering if you have Jeni’s ice cream available or are you only doing samples?

    • September 26, 2012 12:12 pm

Hi Cody! YES! We have several flavors of Jeni’s available at our store in Oak Cliff. It’s SO delicious. You can sample several of them too. Come on by – we’re open Friday through Sunday.

This is such a great service and I am so glad I found you! I’m about to start juicing and I’m really looking forward to visiting your store this weekend and possibly joining the co-op. 🙂

    • September 26, 2012 12:11 pm

Awesome, thanks Lori! We hope to see you soon! Let us know if you have any questions about joining.

Do we have to order 1/2 or whole orders, or can we buy Ala-Cart? I am allergic to some foods and wouldn’t want to pay for something I can not eat.

I meant to also ask if we can buy at the stands, or in the store in Dallas?

    • October 9, 2012 10:21 pm

Hello Lisa! Thank you so much for your interest in joining us! For the “co-op style produce” the only options right now are a full share or a half share that is chosen and sorted by us. At our store in Oak Cliff, you can buy individual produce if you want, without enrolling in a produce share, but we don’t offer individual produce items at the farm stands.

We welcome anyone to be a part of Urban Acres, however, due to the nature of our sorting process, at this time we are unable to accommodate special requests from those with specific food allergies. We cannot create special shares for those with food allergies, nor can we assure that an item you’re allergic to will not have touched another item in your share. Please let me know if you have any other questions! 🙂

Hi Jacqueline, sorry you had trouble with the Farmigo site. It might have been a temporary glitch. All appears to be working now!

So glad I found this site / location. As I continue making my lifestyle changes toward more clean, organic foods (especially meats) – your site was very appealing. Is it okay to come and check out the location, produce and other foods options you provide before actually becoming a member? Very interested in joining after holidays as well. I do hit the Dallas Farmers Market sometime, but want to keep my options open.

    • December 27, 2012 1:08 pm

Thanks so much Angie! We’d LOVE to have you come visit the store. We’re open Friday-Sunday. You do not have to be a member to shop in our store, but members get 5% discount off every purchase. Hope to see you soon!
