Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwich

February 10, 2010

Last week, we drove to a new farm near Athens, TX and picked up some incredible homemade items including honey wheat bread (that was still warm!) and homemade fruit preserves (made with organic fruit and sweetened with Sucanat).  When we got our hands on that bread, we could barely wait to get home and try it for ourselves!

Children and adults alike will love this recipe, and the best part is you can make it entirely with items from Urban Acres.  Don’t worry – we’ll have more of this delicious bread at the farm store this weekend!

Ingredients:
Farm-fresh honey wheat bread (from Athens, TX where the farmer grinds the grain)
Organic peanut butter (at our store)
Organic bananas (from your produce share)
Raw local honey (at our store, from Texas Honeybee Guild)

Cut a thick slice of farm bread and slather peanut butter all over it.  Add sliced bananas and drizzle with honey.  Fold the bread in half so it’s a super thick sandwich.

Variation: substitute homemade fruit preserves for the bananas and honey

ENJOY!
