They are shelled peas and here is a great recipe:

      Buttery Peas! Yum.

1 lb of local fresh shelled peas
      4 cups of water
      2 T butter
      Sea salt
      Cracked pepper

Put water and peas into a pot and turn to high. Once it comes to a boil then bring heat to medium low and add butter and pepper. Let it cook low and slow for at least 30 min or until peas are tender. Season with salt to taste and enjoy! We love serving the peas in a bowl with all of the juice because its delicious. Other options are to cut pieces of bacon into the peas when cooking for more flavor or use veggie stock instead of water.
