Grill It Up!

Memorial Weekend is around the corner so pull out that grill and start heating it up! Urban Acres has some delicious local, pasture-fed meats that are perfect for grilling.

One of our beef providers, Nitschke Natural Beef, specializes in local 100% Certified Grass-fed Beef. They have some delicious cuts coming our way this week including Short Ribs, Brisket Flats, Eye of Round Roasts, Flat Iron steaks, Flank steaks, AND Skirt steaks. They’ve even got some yummy BowWOW Doggie bones for your favorite canine! And definitely stop by next week as they’ll be delivering some 21-day aged steaks as well.  Burgundy Beef also has some tasty beef including their 100% grass-fed Beef Franks, Ground Beef, and Beef Top Sirloin so you can’t go wrong!

If chicken is more what you prefer, Windy Meadows has you covered. They provide us with a weekly supply of tasty chicken breasts, thighs, and wings – perfect for grilling. We also carry their Italian and Country-style Chicken Sausage, whole chickens, and chicken livers. “Chicken liver?!?” you exclaim. Fear not! There are some delicious recipes out there including some on their Recipe page as well as an article on its amazing nutritional benefits (along the left side of their Recipe page).

And it’s not a proper breakfast without some yummy hot pork sausage from our pork provider, Sloans Creek Farm. Check out the freezer next time you’re in the store (or on the order form) for their mild and hot pork sausage, bacon, and more.

    If any produce share members want to make a swap, I am mostly interested in fruit. I’ll be happy to swap you my root veggies/salad greens for your fruits. Thanks ~ Bruce

    Love the grass-fed and finished beef from Open Space Meats in Madera, California, also run by a family of Nitchkes! When I get to Texas for my artisan steak tastings later this summer, it sounds like we ought to include beef from Circle N.
